Dr. Alex Wells (he/they) is a CANFAR CTN+ Postdoctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba. He completed his PhD in the interdisciplinary Social Dimensions of Health program at the University of Victoria and completed degrees in social work at the University of Toronto and York University. They have over 10 years of experience working in health care, social service, 2SLGBTQ and HIV/AIDS service organizations. In his postdoctoral fellowship, Alex will be building on his dissertation research on the health impact of 2SLGBTQ recreational sports, as well as his previous work supporting people living with HIV and in HIV prevention, to explore opportunities for 2SLGBTQ recreational sports in HIV prevention services and in supporting the health and wellbeing of people living with HIV.
