Canadian Research Initiative in Substance Misuse (CRISM)

Pewaseskwan

Pewaseskwan (the Indigenous Wellness Research Group) focuses on research on Indigenous health and wellness. Research may involve Western medicine, but it brings traditional Indigenous knowledge and medicines to the forefront, as these are as important to promoting good health among Indigenous people in Canada. Pewaseskwan is led by Dr. Alexandra King and Prof. Malcolm King. They have teams based at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Vancouver, BC and the University of Saskatchewan (USask) in Saskatoon, SK.

Hassle Free Clinic

Hassle Free Clinic is a community-based clinic providing medical and counselling services in all areas of sexual health. It is the largest anonymous HIV test site in Canada, and is one of the country’s busiest sexually transmitted infection (STI) clinics. The clinic strives to maintain an informal atmosphere, delivering services in a timely, non-bureaucratic manner. A fundamental principle of service delivery is a non-judgmental, supportive attitude to the treatment of sexual health concerns.

Health Initiative for Men

Since its founding in 2009 as a grassroots organization focused on HIV prevention, HIM has broadened its mission to offer a diverse range of health programs and services aimed at improving the overall well-being of gay, bisexual, and queer (GBQ) men, as well as gender-diverse individuals. ICES leads cutting-edge studies that evaluate healthcare delivery and outcomes. Ottawa Public Health

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) provides public health programs and services to individuals and communities while advocating for public policies that make Ottawa and its residents healthier. OPH is a teaching health unit and works with all post secondary educational institutions in the area.

PAN works collaboratively with member organizations and allies who are addressing HIV, hepatitis C and harm reduction. Delaney AIDS Research Enterprise (DARE)

In honor of AIDS activist Martin Delaney, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) have sponsored ten research teams to lead an international collaborative investigation into HIV cure strategies. As a member of this collaboratory, The Delaney AIDS Research Enterprise to Cure HIV (DARE) at the University of California, San Francisco, works with academic and industry partners. Their mission is to harness the power of the adaptive and innate immune system to reduce the overall size of the HIV reservoir during ART and to control any residual virus after ART is interrupted.

The European Treatment Network of HIV, Hepatitis and Global Emerging Infectious Diseases (NEAT ID)

Strategies and Treatments for Respiratory Infections & Viral Emergencies (STRIVE)

STRIVE is a multicentre, international, adaptive, randomised, controlled trial platform to evaluate safety and efficacy of strategies and treatments for hospitalised patients with respiratory infections. The different trials within the platform will evaluate treatments aimed at different respiratory pathogens, and multiple trials may be developed for each pathogen. Each trial will assess the safety and efficacy of an experimental agent or intervention by comparing the clinical outcome of participants against placebo.
