Chinyere Njeze is a Black African woman-scholar and Postdoctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba whose teaching, research, and service are unapologetically grounded in advancing anti‑racism, equity, and community‑engaged transformation within public and global health. She earned her PhD in Community Health Sciences from the University of Manitoba in 2024 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Botany and Biochemistry, as well as a Master of Arts in Health Management, Planning, and Policy from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. She is actively engaged in community-based research with African, Black, and Caribbean women living with HIV in Manitoba. Her program of research on HIV and sexually transmitted and blood‑borne infections, anchored in critical race theory and feminist epistemologies, rigorously exposes racism as a structural determinant of health and how intersectional, community‑accountable approaches can reshape health systems, policy, and care. Her scholarship also contributes to interdisciplinary research initiatives addressing the health and wellness of Indigenous youth, as well as the health and well-being of racialized immigrants and refugees in Canada. Her research is grounded in a strong commitment to social justice, and she employs an intersectionality framework to inform her applied work and community engagement.
